Stephen Ireland started playing for the team during pre-season this season through close mate and current Wythenshawe teammate Blake Norton, and the ex- Republic of Ireland player then invited other ex-pros, who all compete in a midweek small-sided match, to participate.

Ex- Senegalese forward Niasse, who scored 12 scores in 65 Premier League games for Everton and still goes to their home games, also made his debut against the opposition - who are located in Liverpool and wear an Everton training kit as their strip.

"A friend Stephen Ireland told me 'come and play, it's a laugh'," said the striker.

"After that he informed me we were playing a team from Liverpool and the surprise I had when I saw them wearing Blue kits - I say this is wrong for me!

"If you still enjoy the game and you feel you can still do it, anywhere you can play, what are you going to choose?

"The spectators who come and watch are happy and to give someone's moment if they watch us playing there and to pose us questions - it's more like the joy of us getting a place we can enjoy football, with structure of course."

Such is the squad depth at the club, he made his debut at full-back.

"It's a little different but then, I love sprinting and just move inside - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I warn my centre-back 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"That movement is what I'm looking for. It's good fun."

Along with Cisse's six scores on debut, Stephen Ireland has scored 8 in three appearances for the side, while George Boyd scored 5 on his first appearance and Lescott, a centre-half by position, notched a triple in one match up front.

"We literally have not stopped chatting about it - I was phoning my mother and brother on the way home.

"They were all really nice, shaking our hands after the match - it was like facing a bunch of normal guys.
