Cars in Germany's City Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Authorities stated they were notified by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then found multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for information.

An important official commented the vandalism made him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
