🔗 Share this article Adult Swim's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons. In October of last year, the late-night programming block welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the channel launched a fresh animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. In an era often characterized by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and propelled it a breakout hit. A Major Commitment In mid-December, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters. "My deepest thanks go to the fans of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come." A President's Endorsement Accompanying the news praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who discovered the show and supported its uniquely offbeat style. "All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Different Kind of Comedy When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about observing this charming family go about their simple existence. Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to evolve comedy past its prevailing cynical streak. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape. “We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.” The Path Forward With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
