‘A Man Who Will Be Deeply Missed’: Meg Ryan Shares Emotional Tribute to Rob Reiner

Meg Ryan has published a heartfelt tribute to the late filmmaker Rob Reiner, under whose direction she worked in the beloved romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally.

A Heartbreaking Event

Reiner was located lifeless with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, at their residence in LA at the weekend.

“How we will long for this man…” Ryan wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of them together. “We thank you, Rob and Michele, for your belief in true love, fairy tales, and laughter. We appreciate your faith in human goodness and your deep patriotism.”

Charges Filed

Reiner’s son Nick, 32, faces two counts of first-degree murder and was in court today. He’s being held without bail. Sources state that Reiner’s daughter Romy was the one who located her father.

“I must hold onto hope that their tale doesn't conclude here, that awareness can be heightened from this,” Ryan added. “Perhaps they would desire a legacy of hope and humanity, leading us toward empathy and tranquility.”

Family Members Issue a Message

Reiner’s other children Jake and Romy released a message today. “Language fails to capture the daily agony we endure,” they said. “The tragic, shattering loss of our parents is an experience no one should have to face. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

Colleagues and Friends Remember

Ryan’s co-star, Billy Crystal, similarly honored Reiner via comments shared yesterday together with remarks by Larry David, Martin Short and Albert Brooks.

“No one matched his comic instinct, his dedication to rhythmic dialogue, or his elegant sharpening of drama,” it read. “For the actors, he loved them. For the writers he made them better. His finest trait was granting creative liberty. He valued input and made you part of the team. Collaborators felt like a unified team. Being guided by him was an honor, yet just one facet of his impact.”

A Lasting Cinematic Legacy

When Harry Met Sally was a critical and commercial success in 1989, earning over $93 million globally and securing Nora Ephron an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay.

Rob Reiner was introduced to Michele Singer Reiner whilst filming When Harry Met Sally. The pair were connected through Barry Sonnenfeld, a fellow filmmaker and pal.

Reiner’s celebrated filmography also included classics such as Misery, Stand by Me and The Princess Bride. The director and his wife were together in marriage for 36 years.
